The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that upwards of 70 million people aren’t sleeping through the night. Sleep is important for health and well-being. How can you get a better night sleep? The answer might be in your paint color.

Sleep-Inducing Paint Colors?

Soft blues, earth tones and muted colors can promote better sleep. When you walk into your room, do you feel a sense of peace? If the walls are a bright color, that could signal to your brain that it’s time to wake up. Bright white walls can be more reflective and catch unwanted light coming in from outside.

A 2013 study by Travelodge found that people who have blue bedrooms get the most sleep at night. Colors of muted greens, yellows and oranges also scored higher.

There are many blue color palettes to choose from. Go with a deeper blueberry palette or a light blue sky. Don’t want to totally commit to blue? Pick blue accents. Blue bedding, throw pillows or an area rug can help soften your bedroom and offset white or bright walls.
